18 Holidays in #2014
The public may expect 18 holidays in 2014. Based on Proclamation No. 655 signed by President Aquino on September 25, 2013, there will be 10 regular holidays and eight special non-working days in 2014.
Regular holidays for 2014 include: January 1, Wednesday (New Year’s Day);April 9, Wednesday (Araw ng Kagitingan); April 17, Maundy Thursday; April 18, Good Friday; May 1, Thursday (Labor Day); June 12, Thursday (Independence Day);August 25, Monday (National Heroes’ Day); November 30, Sunday (Bonifacio Day); December 25, Thursday (Christmas Day); and December 30, Tuesday (Rizal Day).
Special non-working days include Jan. 31, Friday (Chinese New Year); April 19, Black Saturday; Aug. 21, Thursday (Ninoy Aquino Day);Nov. 1, Saturday (All Saints’ Day); Dec. 24, Wednesday (Christmas Eve); Dec. 26, Friday; and Dec. 31, Wednesday (New Year’s Eve).
February 25, Tuesday, shall also be a special holiday for all schools in commemoration of the EDSA People Power Revolution.The above-mentioned list of holidays does not include the observance of Eid’l Fitr and Eid’l Adha.
The observance of Eid’l Fitr and Eid’l Adha shall be issued after the approximate dates of the Islamic holidays have been determined in accordance with the Islamic calendar (Hijra) or the lunar calendar, or upon Islamic astronomical calculations, whichever is possible or convenient.
